Here’s the Rub: Complete MPS is Back
Dr. Langford September 12th, 2007
AMO’s Complete MoisturePlus (no rub) soft contact lens multipurpose solution (MPS) was taken off the market a few months back because it wasn’t killing the Acanthamoeba germ, at least not while using the no-rub technique.
Now they have a new product:

Here’s a discription of the product that I got in an e-mail sent by AMO to eye doctors:
AMO re-entered the multipurpose solution market with the launch of COMPLETE® MPS EASY RUB™ FORMULA and a professional education program called the PATIENT COMPLIANCE SYSTEM. The program emphasizes the importance of a clean environment for cleaning and caring for the lenses, proper hygiene (hand washing), the importance of a rub/rinse care regimen, proper application and removal of contact lenses, proper replacement of contact lenses and case, disinfection regimens, case replacement, and documentation and follow-up. The PATIENT COMPLIANCE SYSTEM is easy to follow and use and covers all the key elements of good contact lens care.
I would guess that they kept about the same formula (maybe even dropping the MoisturePlus ingredient?), but notice that you have to rub with this MPS. Rubbing to mechanically clean your contact lens is an excellent thing to do no matter what type of MPS you use.
I wish all MPS manufacters would stop advertising “No Rub” and just direct everyone to use the rubbing technique. It wastes less solution anyway, so it’s more economical and apparently more healthy for your eyes to use the rub directions.
